One of the things we have at our house is a lanyard with a small laminated sign on it. It says something along the lines of this ... "Please don't talk to me right now. 100% of my attention is focused on the people swimming in this pool. I'll be done in 15 minutes at which point, someone else will take over keeping this pool safe." We use that lanyard at all our parties and no one ever minds taking their turn!
