Welcome to the Church of Common Sense

Thanks for visiting my blog.  Whenever some website asks me my “religion,” I put “I want to start the Church of Common Sense.”  Now that I have a blog (welcome to the new millennium Dawn) I decided that’s what it should be called!

As anyone who knows me well knows, I like to tell stories.  I’m going to use this blog to tell my stories to the world.  If you’ve happened upon this page and you’re interested, read on.  If not, that’s OK – there are tons of other blogs on the Internet. So, ramble, ramble… here I go.

Just came back from Vegas, the International Lingerie Show.  Wow, what a weekend!  I really love going to trade shows in the adult novelty industry because the people who make the stuff that everyone is buying are so terrific.  Friendly, helpful, funny…  Interestingly enough, one might think that the people who run the industry might be a bunch of perverts or overly crude, but they’re not.  Most of them are family people, who came up with a good idea and are trying to make their mark introducing it to the world.  I really like these people.  You also have those on the periphery.  They write about the products, sell the products and educate others about the products.

It’s actually very humorous for a non-industry person to walk into a conversation, the look on their face is priceless.

I also had my fair share of run-ins with “joe schmuck.”  I can’t categorize Joe Schmuck, I’m not sure what he does, but he’s an asshole.  Can’t maintain eye contact above breast level, is crude and insensitive.  He’s the kind of guy you almost expect to honk your boobies.  Fortunately, I only ran into about 5 Joe Schmuck’s compared to hundreds of other great people.

I had to keep crossing the street from my hotel to the hotel the convention was in and the road was under construction.  A big water truck was spraying water onto the dirt.  On the side, very carefully stenciled it says

NON-PORTABLE WATER

I found that quite hysterical as the water is in a truck so it’s obviously ‘portable,’ but you can’t drink it, so it’s definitely non-potable.  I’m afraid that we’re turning future generations into a band of idiots who get all their news in 140 characters or less, who don’t read books, volunteer, tell stories or really relax and enjoy the little things life has to offer.

One of my favorite quotes (I love quotes) is “Your life will only change year after year by the people you meet and the books you read.”  I love to read, I devour books.  Sometimes I only read one/month and other times I read 3 – 5 per week.  Fiction, non-fiction, does not matter, it’s all about learning something new and adding to your experience on this planet.  I’ve met a ton of great people since I started bringing ToiBocks to market and they’ve all changed my life for the better.  So I want everyone to know how grateful I am to them for allowing me to enter their world and change their lives, even if it’s just a little, like they changed mine.

I’ll leave you with today’s message from the Secret, Daily Teachings Calendar:

There is no outside force that can affect your life unless you give that force power with your thoughts.  The greatest power is within you.

Use the power within, and realize that for your life there is nothing mightier in this world.

Be safe!

Dawn
